Not really. The first time I started programming was when I was doing my undergrad.
Your college experience will almost entirely be defined by
1. how patient you are. getting good and confident in programming takes time.
2. practice programming. practice, practice, practice,
3. it would be good to have friends who are eager to learn. Learning in a group when you are starting out will be very valuable.
