If you mean computer science specifically, and not the broader fields of computing or information technology, then you need a college degree and graduate degree. However, 99% of computing-related jobs in industry are not in computer science, which is the conceptual and theoretical end of the field. Most are generally grouped under information technology (including most developers), along with some potentially under research and development. Where data analysis folks belong is not settled.
Do you need a bachelor’s degree to work in information technology? No, but it’s preferred, so most people in the field have a degree. It doesn’t have to be in CS; my undergraduate majors were history and English.
