Information Science and Computer Science are 70% similar when subjects of study are concerned. Basically most of the Universities in India have similar subject names in different related branches. Both IS and CS have same Theory and Lab subjects untill 5th/6th semesters. After that few subjects change according to the branch. For example CS students will have Computer graphics in 6th semester whereas IS students will have File Structures. Thus in a nutshell, CS students will come across more of Computing Related Subjects when they go-to higher semesters, and IS students will see more of Data related Subjects. That’s some little difference. Both have equal scope, if you want to be a Computer Scientist you will find Computer Science more interesting, in the same refraction if Data Science is what you seek, then Information Science is your preference.
