What exactly happens in counselling after NEET exam regardless of the marks you score?

  • 0

Hi, I went through the counselling phase this year.

  1. So after you’ve given your NEET exam, you wait for the result to be declared by the CBSE or the conducting authority.
  2. After the result has been posted, the cut-offs are declared. If you manage to clear the exam you’re eligible to attend the counselling. There is a difference between qualifying the exam and actually getting a seat. You can qualify even if you get 50% percentile but to get a govt seat you need 550+ marks.
  3. At this point, you can apply to different state counsellings and also the one conducted by MCI (All India quota and Deemed Universities). Regularly check the websites of the respective institutions for the important dates.
  4. Fill in the form, make the payment and upload the documents required.
  5. Now wait. Wait for the result of the first counselling.
  6. Most counsellings are online now. But for the few which are offline you’ll need to go to the counselling centre. Like for example, I applied to Haryana counselling and had to go to Rohtak (main university) for counselling.
  7. If you manage to get a seat in the first counselling, then, congratulations. Else, wait for the second and mop up round.
