- Well, the fat salaries in IITs are offered by either software companies or consultancies (investment banking, analytics etc.) .
- M.Tech students in IITs are hired mostly by Research companies(like Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Intel etc.) . Research companies don’t offer that lucrative packages but still good enough.
- IIT SPO don’t discriminate with students on the basis of B.Tech/M.tech. Most of the companies(along with the software companies which offers very high packages) are open to all. But its never easy to compete with B.Techs specially in coding. M.Techs who have very good programming skills gets placed in software companies too. Most of the M.Techs are comfortable in their specializations so its comparatively easy for them to get a job in Core companies.

Why are M.Tech students not getting fat salary packages like B.Tech students in IITs?
