They will try to look at it meaningfully. Some companies specify the cut-off as a first screening exercise. That means that you should have maintained an aggregate/ average percentage beyond the cut-off till the prescribed semester.
If you cross that hurdle and then you can take an opportunity of how you have consistently performed better or improved every semester etc depending upon your scores.
They want to know how well you have performed as it is a broad indicator of your knowledge level, you have acquired over that period.
