How do I get a good placement at VIT? I didn’t get into any of NIT’s and even BITS but got CSE in Vellore. What should I do from now on to crack a good placement?

For CSE students, there will be ample opportunities in VIT. Now for cracking top product based companies such as Amazon, etc. you would definitely have to take care of these 3 things –

  1. CGPA – definitely not below 8–8.5 (some companies have cgpa as their first filter, few may ask for atleast 9 also). Study the core CSE courses such as DS, etc. very well.
  2. Coding – choose any one/two language you are comfortable with, master it as much as possible. To assess yourself, participate in coding competitions both at national and international level.
  3. Communication skills – Point 1 and 2 will help you clear initial rounds and to some extent technical interview rounds, only. However, for clearing all interview rounds (especially HR but technical too), you will have to improve on your communication skills. Develop a habit of – reading non-academic books, news, etc.; talking to your friends, professors, etc. in English; and making presentation/participating in academic/non-academic seminars, debates, etc.
