How did you prepare for physics for the NEET?

  • 0

Physics is usually is least favourite subject of students preparing for NEET-UG, mostly because of the way the subject is taught.

1.Let go off the fear: Even before starting the topics, please do not have a pre-conceived notion that “yeh toh mujhse hoga hi nahin”.

I agree the subject is vast and is tough, but at JEE-Advanced level, not at NEET level. So, first be prepared to embrace this beautiful subject with all your heart.

2. Class lectures and Notes: Having a good mentor for physics is very important. Make sure that you are able to grasp maximum of whatever concept is being taught in the class.

You can refer to the Youtube lectures of Alakh Pandey Sir(Physicswallah) and Prashant Sharma Sir(NEET Physics Kota). Make sure you have formula sheets for all chapters as it will prove handy during revision time.

3.Focus on concepts: Don’t just focus on cramming the formulas, rather be thorough with the proving part as well, so that even if the question is a bit-twisted, you are able to solve it and it will also help you retain formulas for long.

Whenever you study physics, try to draw some analogy between topics. Eg: The formulas of heat transfer and electricity, Kinetic Energy with inductor formulas, Potential Energy with capacitor formulas etc.

4. Coaching modules: I referred to Aakash modules and used to thoroughly solve all Try Yourself, Exercise, PYQs, Level-1 and Level-2 questions. I have seen all these questions being as such copy-pasted in the NEET exam. Mark all the questions that you face difficulty in solving in the first go and then keep on reviewing them from time to time.

Also, remember using a timer when you are solving questions, because speed and accuracy is what matters the most in NEET.

“Instead of solving 10 books one time, solve 1 book ten times”.

5.NCERT: Read NCERT once/twice and mark all the important points. Be thorough with the summary and points to ponder. Solve the examples, Exercise and even additional exercise(at least the modern physics section). A direct question had been asked in 2019(Odisha) NEET PYQ from Atoms’ chapter Additional exercise section.

Preference order of NCERT:

Class 12 part-II

Class 12 part-I

Class 11 part-II

Class 11 part-I

6. Test Papers: Please do not skip any test as in every test there are at least 15–20 new “type” of questions that you will come across and there is a probability that the same type of question might as well be repeated in the main exam.

I used to make a note of the mistakes that I did in the paper and used to go through it once in every 15 days. Also, I used to review the same paper a month later to see if I am able to solve all questions within less time as speed matters a lot in NEET exam.

Hope this answer helps you.🤗

Peace out.
