In the past academic year, about 80 companies have come for campus placements for ECE s. Most of them are IT or software companies. Since the number of students getting placed in each of these companies can’t be standardized, It is hard to provide the actual statistics. To be eligible for placements, you must have a minimum CGPA of 6 ( though most of the companies ask for a higher CGPA and also one mustn’t have any standing arrears at the end of 6th semester).
Though all the students would be informed that they can placed in not more than one company, each can have a maximum of three offers in the following categories.
- IT services based company
- IT product based company
- Core product based company.
Most of the companies that come in the early part of 7th semester shortlist students with CPGA of 9+, even though some ask for 7/7.5/8/8/5+.
During the day sharing process in which about three companies recruit at a time ( Wipro, Cognizant and Infosys in the year 2014-2015), a student can get placed in all the three but can choose only one offer. After a student is placed in one of the Day sharing companies, he/she won’t be eligible for placement in most of the other IT companies ( this accounts for a large number of companies that visit. I’m enlisting all the companies that have visited the campus and for which ECE students were eligible and the offered packages (as many as I can).
