SRM University Chancellor TR Pachamuthu has been arrested by the Chennai Crime Branch police following complaints from the parents of more than 100 students who had paid capitation fee for medical seats in SRM medical college. The case was registered after his close aide Madhan went missing in May allegedly after collecting several crores from medical seat aspirants. The total cost of seats amount to more than 70 crore INR.
While Madhan’s family alleged that he went missing after paying all the money collected to Pachamuthu, there were protests by parents and students before Pachamuthu’s residence. The whereabouts of Madhan are still unknown.
As of now, Pachamuthu has been arrested under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 34 (common intention).
While all this still looks confusing, I’m pretty sure the reality of it will come to light soon enough. The key to finding the truth lies on finding Madhan, the alleged mastermind behind all this.
