Considering the recent year placement record, CSE has the best placement record, both in terms of highest packages offered and average packages offered. The placement data for every CS specialisation is not available.
Talking specifically about last few years, 2015–2017, the number of IT companies visiting the campus has significantly increased. On the other hand, the number of Oil & Gas sector companies visiting the campus as well as the number of offers made by some of the visiting companies have decreased. This is largely because of the nature of Oil & Gas industry. For example, Schlumberger used to visit the campus a few years ago during the placement season. Now, they only visit the campus for picking up interns, mostly two or three. Cairn India has not visited the campus since 2016. Weatherford Drilling did visit the campus last year and offered a CTC of 26–27 Lacs & 16–17 Lacs . Placements in other branches, like Mechanical , Electrical are generally average, and most of the offers made are in range 4 – 7 LPA.
In 2016–2017, a lot more IT companies, some of them being dream companies visited the campus. Microsoft India hired for the first time in 2016, and again in 2017. The roles offered were Consultant and PFE, CTC : 10–11 LPA . Commvault Systems hired in 2016 and 2017, roles offered were Developer and SDET. CTC was 14–15 LPA. Amazon had hired two students from CS ( from 2017 passing out batch ), and the role they were offering was SDE ( CTC : 24–26 LPA ) . Other companies offering packages more than 6 LPA include Dell R&D, VMWare, Adobe Systems . During Sep-Nov 2017 placement season, Directi had conducted a recruitment test for 2018 passing out students. It is unknown whether anyone made it to Directi or not. Package offered by Directi was in range 26–27 LPA.
Other than CSE and Petroleum, placements haven’t been on the higher side. However, Fire & Safety Engineering does have a consistent placement record. CTCs offered are also good, mostly in range 6 – 9 LPA
