I have done my B.com.(Hons) from Sri Venkateswara College. Those were the three best years of my life.
Venky (SVC is popularly known as Venky) ranks among top colleges of DU and the best co-ed college in South campus. Faculty is excellent in terms of qualifications, experience, research and behaviour specially Dr. Shruti Mathur. She is an amazing and diligent teacher which is hard to find in DU.
Secondly, the campus life is happening. You will never feel dull. Crowd is lively and Satya niketan market is just opposite to the college gate which is any day better than North Campus( I have done my M.com. from North Campus, thats why I can compare the two). You have all the famous restaurants of Hudson Lane in immediate vicinity. One lecture is free and you can hop to the delicious momos across the street. QDs, BYD, Pizza Hut, Keventers, 34 Chowringee Lane among so many. And college’s canteen is okay.
Thirdly, college’s cultural fest “Nexus” is a huge crowd puller. It always brings something new and Nexus is one of the best cultural fest in DU. Moreover, You have ample amount of opportunities to pursue your talents like Dance Society, Commerce Society, Fine Arts Society, Music society and so on. College has a good sports infrastructure as well specially for Cricket.
Lastly, the connectivity is no longer a problem. The metro station is at walking distance to college. You can reach any part of Delhi. Sarojini nagar, Lajapat nagar, Rajouri Garden, South extension, Vasant Vihar and Gurgaon are at a distance of 30 minutes. Infact, CP and Saket can be reached in a short span of time.
When I experienced North campus life, I realised my Venky days were any day better. Believe me, it comes from a person who has experienced life at both campuses but nothing could beat the charm of being a Venkite 🙂
