If you are not able to secure a seat in any government college then you must go for a college which is having a good placement record . Because if you are in private engineering it will cost you too much . So in order to recover that money you must be in a good college . So after 1 or 2 years of graduation you are able to recover atleast your whole fees.
Placement is just 1 point you should also see for faculty , infrastructure, facilities, faculty and students ratio. So do research on these and plan accordingly
