It is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The undergraduate courses are granted academic autonomy by the university.

What do we mean by an autonomous institute?
Affiliated to a Govt. University but does not follow university syllabus or curriculum rather has its own better syllabus.
Examples : VJTI, Mumbai; COEP, Pune; BMSCE;Bengaluru, RVCE;Bengaluru etc.
What do we mean by a non autonomous institute?
Affiliated to a Govt. University and follows its prescribed syllabus & curriculum.
Examples: SPIT, Mumbai; DJ Sanghvi, Mumbai; PICT, Pune; MIT, Pune;BIT, BENGALURU etc.
What do we mean by a University?
Private universities are UGC and AICTE approved institutes. However, such universities do not run on central or state funds. They can grant their own college degrees and can follow their own syllabus.
Examples: PES UNIVERSITY,Bengaluru MANIPAL;Mengaluru, VIT;Chennai,etc.
What do we mean by “institute under deemed university”?
Affiliated to a Private University which has its own course structure.
Examples :MPSTME (NMIMS University), Mumbai; COE, Pune; Amity University, New Delhi;BITS Hyderabad, etc.
