Hindustan College of Engineering, established in the year 1985, has been conferred the "University Status" by UGC, Government of India Under Section 3 of UGC Act 1956 with the name "HINDUSTAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCE" from the academic year 2008 - 09. The Vision of HITS is "TO MAKE EVERY MAN A SUCCESS AND NO MAN A FAILURE".

Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu celebrated its Foundation Day recently and the chief guest for the event was Parvez Ahmed, Chairman and CEO, J&K Bank. The event was attended by many eminent personalities including Prof Ashok Aima (VC Central University), Manoj Gaur (IIT Director) along with faculty and students of IIT. While addressing the audience on the Foundation Day, Parvez Ahmed congratulated the entire team of the institute and regarded IIT Jammu as one of the important milestones of the J&K state which will promote academic advancement and innovation in the state. He further said that J&K Bank - the financial institution of the state is ready to support such initiatives of research and innovation in every possible way. He further assured that J&K Bank will help IIT Jammu bridge the gap between the society and centre of knowledge. The institute as per his views should connect to remote areas of the state and collaborate with students from such areas for a constructive contribution in the society. As per him, this has helped to provide the youth of the country with relevant growth opportunities. Earlier, such opportunities were only available in big states and cities but now students have an option to pursue the same within the state.
There has been a rise in the number of candidates applying to M.Sc, M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar. The number of students applying for these programmes has witnessed a significant improvement in the M.Sc programme by 7%, 15% in M.Tech programme and 95% in the Ph.D. programme. Apart from this, IIT BBS has taken several initiatives to encourage girl students to pursue higher education. The institute has offered admission to 19 girl students on the supernumerary basis and the strength of the girl students in undergraduate courses has gone up to 55. According to him, the institute will introduce more such initiatives which will help in bringing down the number of vacant seats in the coming years. Many students have shown interest in these courses and have also enrolled for the same. Overall, the institute offers degrees in 11 M.Tech programmes, 6 B.Tech specializations, 9 Dual Degree programmes and 5 M.Sc programmes. It also offers Ph.D. in seven schools.
IIT Mandi (Indian Institute of Technology) has welcomed its first batch of students in the B.Tech course on August 08, 2018. As a part of the induction programme, students will spend the first five weeks of the academic session in an intense daily programme. During the induction programme, IIT Mandi does not conduct any regular classes for students enrolled in various branches of engineering. Students will be divided into batches of 20 and personal attention will be given to each student to hone their skills and help them get acquainted with the environment of the premier institute.
