What should I be prepared for, both before and after graduation, if I pursue chemical engineering from BITS Pilani in Hyderabad campus?

See you prepared well enough to get into BITS, now it depends on what to do after.

If your question is this, then my friend BITS chemical is not for you, chemical engineering is a monotonous line , unlike CSE or EEE grads your life won’t have those AC halls and environment,a chemical engineer works near boilers and machines. If one is interested in chemical engineering , that person knows all these and loves to work in that environment, also your start won’t be that great either, you will get a salary of 6–8 lakhs in chemical engineering as it’s a line which demands work experience, so just see you will pay 25 lakhs to study what you have no interest in and eventually have low ROI also, but once you gain some experience then it’s all roses for you, because the chemical industry does require people to run them , but the fact is companies sometimes hire low level employees from tier 4 colleges , in order to save money. But still getting experience will affect your life and you will start to have better opportunities, but the same old monotonous working environment will always be with you after all . So take chemical engineering If you are interested in it, as research and development are great prospects also after that. BITS is great , but this field requires experience not college, so it depends on you, there will be sun shine but the road is hard to tread, without interest , slogging the road has no benefits, you will end up becoming a bad chemical engineer without interest, no college name will help you, rather choose field rather than choosing a college, college teaches you and gives you opportunities, but without interest none of that matters.

Hope this helps. The harsh truth of chemical engineer in India.
